Sorption characteristics in coal and shale: A review for enhanced methane recovery

The exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbon resources within coal shale reservoirs is an engineering challenge. Well-developed internal micro-pore structures, complex sorption mechanism as well numerous influencing factors affecting the gas flow are generally not well-accounted in commercial life-cycle coalbed methane wells. Although large number studies have been conducted to propose improved models study on adsorption desorption characteristics CO2 reservoirs, a systematic review such for efficient understanding accumulated literature missing, especially with focus towards reservoirs. In that context, this presents shale. Firstly, theoretical mechanisms introduced, followed by description models. Further, three described: total organic carbon clays, pore reservoir conditions. Finally, preferential hydrocarbons dioxide described, methods promote enhanced recovery discussed, which include technologies injection, microwave heating, hydraulic fracturing.
